DEBRA K. KELLY

“Debi”

“Debi” grew up on a family farm in the Dutch Fork area (Double Acres) and spent most of her time outdoors, which led to her love of painting landscapes and wildlife.  She is a graduate of USC and has over 20+ years in the Retail Banking/Mortgage Industry with local banks in the Columbia/Lexington area.  For the past six years, she has been employed with First American Title Insurance Company in Columbia.  Her travels around the state have given her the opportunity to reflect in her artwork the beautiful scenery available here in South Carolina.  Debi is also an indoor cycling instructor for one of the local gyms.  She is married to Henry Kelly of Irmo. 

She always had a sketchbook in-hand, but really began to focus on her artwork when her daughter, Robyn, left for college.  Because she is a busy person, Debi understands how easy it is to overlook the special moments in our lives.  She likes to inscribe her work with the following:  “May your life be filled with beautiful landscapes.”  She says, “Too often we miss what is right in front of us.  I hope, for just a moment in time, that one of my paintings reminds the audience of how important it is to stop, take a deep breath and really enjoy life.”

Debi primarily uses oils and pastels for her landscapes.  She has participated and exhibited in numerous competitions, including The Mack  (McCormick), Hub City Exhibition (Spartanburg), Crooked Creek Art League, South Carolina State Fairs, and the Anderson County Arts Center.  She has won numerous awards for her pastels and oils, and has received several purchase awards.  You can email Debi at southernlandscapes@sc.rr.com.
